We had a terrific time on vacation. Paul, Kaylee and I took our nephew Mikey, his friend Josh, and our neice Sheyenne to Canyon Lake and New Braunsfel. We had a terrific time and I wanted to share it with you. We swam at the lake and went to Landa Park and we counted the antlers on the bucks and ate and ate and ate. The end of the first week, my sister in law, Tracy and another nephew, J.G. joined us and we went to ride the river. The Guadalupe. When we tried to get our equipment all rented, we were informed that Kaylee was too young (per company) that you had to be at least 4 years old to ride in a canoe or raft and 7 years old to tube. Kaylee, loves the river and we were extremely dissappointed to say the least. Our plans changed and Kaylee and Paul went to Landa Park while Tracy and I took the kids down a section of the river that should normally have taken us about an hour and a half. It took us almost 5 hours. We burned, we paddled and we paddled. If you know anything about the Guad, it was running about 205cfs, normally, it runs about 450cfs. It was very low and slow. We had some fun though and only at the end did we suffer any accidents. Keep in mind that I'm trying to be extremely careful because of my back and so I was very cautious at any white water sections. I did surprisingly well but Sheyenne had an accident at the last falls in front of where we were to get out of the river. She had somehow gotten stuck with the tube that carried our ice chest and it gave her some grief and she did not make it down the fall in her tube. A few scrapes and bruises but she did a great job.
The second week, we took our nephew Jakeb with us. He says he had a great time but he had to entertain himself several times because there was no one there to play with him. Except Kaylee!!! haha We took him to some different places on the river and also to Landa Park and we had a really great time. You'll never guess what else we did?! We ate, and ate, and ate. We met some really wonderful people there and had them over for dinner and then they had us over as well. We really enjoyed their company. Thanks "Griffins"! for adding some fun to our trip. We also ran into some friends there from our church. Hey guys, this shout out is for you, the Genre's, the Gryseels, and Mike S. It was great to see you guys and I wish we'd been able to see more of you. (Hey, there's always next weekend?!)
Kaylee has turned out to be part fish as well. She is following in the footsteps of her sister and brother. We could not keep up with her in the water and she played herself out almost every day. She was having a great time. I have included some pictures in this blog so it may be kinda long but thought you'd enjoy seeing some of the things we did! God Bless.
